Trip to Evora and Marvão

Being unable to travel outside Portugal at the moment while I wait for my Residence Visa to be renewed, I decided to take the opportunity to visit Evora and Marvão. The drive through the Alentejo countryside was interesting seeing the large expanses of agricultural land and vineyards. It’s striking how quiet the roads are and how underpopulated the area is.

It’s great having the opportunity to visit popular places outside the tourist season when they’re much quieter. Marvão was a case in point – very quiet and relaxing. I was lucky with the weather which aided the photography.

On the way home I made a small detour to the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Graça overlooking Elvas. This quadrangular structure is in good condition and is best viewed from the air. The weather conditions were ideal for flying a drone and the precision of the building is revealed.
